Solution




By default Backup Exec is registered with LiveUpdate and is configured to receive updates anytime LiveUpdate is run from any Symantec application configured to use LiveUpdate. Backup Exec gets unregistered and hence causes this problem.

This issue can be resolved by using the Backup Exec LiveUpdate utility (BeUpdateOps.exe) so that the settings can be changed for Backup Exec to be updated when LiveUpdate is launched from within Backup Exec.

Refer related documents for more information about Backup Exec LiveUpdate utility (BeUpdateOps.exe) for 11d, 12 and then perform the following steps:

Solution 1:

1. Open the command prompt and browse to the following directory

(assuming that this is the directory in which Backup Exec is installed) :

C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYMANTEC\BACKUP EXEC

2. Run BeUpdateOps.exe -AddBE -OptOut



3. Run Live Update

Solution 2:
1. Open add/remove program on the media server.
2. Uninstall live update.
3. Download live update 3.3 "www.symantec.com/techsupp/home_homeoffice/products/lu/lu/files.html"
4. Re-try live updates.
